Update: many readers on a similar post on Doctor of Credit are noting this is no longer working for them. The lessoned learned is that when a deal seems too good to be true, you need to jump on it right away.
As flagged by Frequent Miler and others, you can currently earn 25k AA miles when signing up for a business account using promo code JOINA7. Typically, this requires adding 5 users to the business account and completing $5000 spend, but both of those requirements are waived if you hold the Citi AAdvantage Business credit card. Even better, this works instantly even for existing accounts. Using this approach, we did this in just a few minutes on both my and my wife’s AAdvantage business accounts and earned an instant 50k miles!
How to add the promotion
Log in to your business account and click on Settings in the lower left. I needed to add a phone number as well, but I simply added the promo code and clicked Save.
After clicking back to my account Home tab, the balance popped from 0 to 25k miles in about 2 seconds! We quickly repeated the process on my wife’s account as she is also currently an AAdvantage business card holder. The timing worked out well because she was actually trying to cancel that card over the weekend, but there was some system issue preventing it. Closing that card would have changed the requirements for this promotion an put it out of reach (5 employees and $5k of spend).
Given the ability to trigger this promo with just a few clicks, I would do it immediately if you hold that card, but the offer is scheduled to run until the end of July.
TL;DR:
By applying promo code JOINA7 in the settings of an American Airlines AAdvantage business account, Citi AAdvantage Business cardholders can instantly earn 25,000 miles. While this promotion usually requires adding five employees and spending $5,000, those requirements are completely waived for cardholders.
