Southwest Business Travel Offer: Bonus Points Towards Tier Status and Companion Pass Offer

Offer for Southwest points and short term Companion Pass

Southwest is out with a new offer today for business travel, earning redeemable points that also are tier-qualifying (earning towards A-List) as well as a path towards a potential Companion Pass for the summer.

Tier qualifying point bonus offers don’t come around very often, but it is not surprising that Southwest is including that in this promotion because they want to attract and retain customers in the midst of the seating changes coming on January 27th.

Even if you already have status, getting additional points that are both redeemable and tier qualifying is a good deal if you have planned travel in this window. Here is a table that shows typical earning. For A-List Preferred you need double these amounts.

Offer Details

You can see the full offer and register here, but essentially you need to register and fly 2 or 4 qualifying round trips between today and April 15th. They key is that the booking must be through a business channel such as SWABIZ. Previously booked flights or flights booked through southwest.com don’t count although you could cancel and rebook for this window.

Fly 2 round trips (or 4 one-ways) you will earn 5,000 points that are both redeemable points and tier qualifying.

Fly 4 round trips (or 8 one-ways) you will earn 7,500 points and a promotional Companion Pass valid for flights in May, June and July of this year.

If you have a small business and are not already using one of the business channels, it is free and quick to apply for a business account here. The promotional Companion Pass is interesting in that it covers peak summer travel. Typically, these promotions cover January-February travel so this could benefit more people. This makes sense given the targeted higher value business travelers.
