One of the drawbacks of flying Southwest is that they do not operate their own airport lounges. However, there are many Priority Pass lounges that are accessible when flying Southwest. In this series I am highlighting which lounges you will be able to access while flying Southwest and what to expect from these lounges.
Up first is the Aspire lounge in Ontario, California (ONT) terminal 4. This terminal is served by Southwest, American, Hawaiian and New Pacific Airlines. Open daily from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the Aspire lounge is an easy walk from security and to any gate in this small terminal. Once through security turn left and the lounge is about a 3-minute walk, between gates 410 and 411.
While relatively small, this lounge has never been busy during my afternoon visits and offers a range of seating options, self-serve food and beverage options and a full bar similar to many of The Club lounges. During my last visit, the staff were friendly, and the lounge offered a comfortable waiting area before my flight. WiFi and restrooms were also available within the lounge.
Similar to many of The Club lounge locations, if I was looking for a full meal before a long flight, I would probably look elsewhere in the terminal, but for a quick snack or light meal and a drink it is a nice option. Given the small size of the terminal and narrow hallway just after security, it can be a bit loud and hectic for such a small airport. The Aspire lounge is a welcome escape for some peace and quiet. Here are some photos of what to expect:
TL;DR: Southwest Airlines does not have its own airport lounges, but travelers can often access Priority Pass lounges like the Aspire lounge in Ontario, California (ONT) terminal 4. The Aspire lounge, located between gates 410 and 411, offers a range of seating, self-serve food and beverages, a full bar, WiFi, and restrooms, providing a comfortable and quiet waiting area despite the terminal’s small and busy environment.
