One of the drawbacks of flying Southwest is that they do not operate their own airport lounges. However, there are many Priority Pass lounges that are accessible when flying Southwest. In this series I am highlighting which lounges you will be able to access while flying Southwest and what to expect from these lounges.
On the way home from a recent soccer trip with my daughter we had the opportunity to check out a newer Priority Pass lounge concept, the Gameway airport gaming lounge at Houston Hobby airport. Located down the hall to the right of security just past Chick-Fil-A, Gameway was a fun way to spend some time before boarding our return flight home.
Gameway lounges accept Priority Pass from Chase cards but not Amex or Capital One cards. For each visit, the cardholder and up to two guests are entitled to a one hour gaming session as well as one drink and one snack per person from a pretty extensive selection. The lounge attendant was also super friendly and helpful in explaining everything to us.
Besides accessing the lounge with a Chase Priority Pass, paid rates are available: $17.99 for up to 30 minutes, $27.99 for up to 1 hour and $45.99 for unlimited game play. Gamers get a 42” monitor, wireless headphones and their choice of Xbox or Playstation controllers with a wide selection of games to choose from. During this visit my daughter and one of her teammates enjoyed playing Fortnite and FIFA soccer.
Given the drink and snack selection and high prices of those things elsewhere in the airport, I could even see this being very useful in the case when I don’t have much time in the airport such as on a tight connection. Just popping in to grab a bottle of water and bag of chips or trail mix (for free) and skip the gaming could easily save $10-30 if you are travelling with a group.
Other locations with Gameway lounges include:
- DFW terminals B and E
- LAX terminals 3 and 6
- Charlotte
- Coming soon to JFK Terminal 8 and Chicago MDW
Here are some photos of the gaming area:
TL;DR The Gameway airport gaming lounge is a nice option for those with Chase Priority Pass memberships. With a wide selection of games and snacks, it is a great way to spend some time before boarding your flight.
Thanks. I will remember this for future travel. Free snacks and drinks is good for me!
Great information, gaming for the parents and snacks for the kids…looking forward to using it in LAX!
