Manufacture 6 Hyatt Elite Nights for 1667 Points Per Night

Manufacture Hyatt Elite Nights

Hyatt has two overlapping promotions currently, that can stack to manufacture elite nights at a low cost. It’s unfortunate (but understandable) that both don’t include Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties, but for those who need to boost their elite nights, this could make sense despite being early in the year.

Why would someone manufacture Hyatt elite nights?

Besides earning higher tiers of elite status, Explorist at 30 nights and top-tier Globalist at 60 nights, Hyatt offers milestone rewards for each 10 elite nights. These get particularly valuable as you get to 40 nights and beyond. Even when failing to reach Globalist status, the rewards at 40 and 50 nights can be worth going for, as I did last year.

Of particular interest to me and many others are the Suite Upgrade Awards, which can be used to confirm a suite in advance for bookings up to 7 days. While it is early in the year and probably not clear if you will be in striking distance of these thresholds, if you think you will be close based on planned travel, manufacturing a few elite nights now could make sense.

Offer details

Here are the two offers: The first offer gives 3k points for every 3 eligible nights (or 1k bonus for Hyatt Place/Select properties) until April 15th. The second lasts until the end of the year and awards 5k bonus points for every 5+ night stay at Hyatt House/Studios properties.

How to maximize

To get a low-cost 6 elite nights, you would need to find a category 1 Hyatt House property with off-peak awards available for 3500 points per night. The math works like this: 6 nights at 3500/night = 21k points cost up front. With that you would get two of the 3k bonuses and one 5k bonus for a total of 11k points back. That (21k-11k) mean you only “spend” 10k total points out of pocket, divided by 6 nights = 1667 points per night.

This would also work at 12 nights and even be slightly cheaper at 10 or 15 nights, but it would be increasingly harder to find multiple stays with 5 straight days of off-peak award availability and check out by April 15th. If you could, the options look like this:

This assumes the 10, 12, or 15-night stays are broken into separate 5+ night stays to trigger the second promotion multiple times

TL;DR: By stacking Hyatt’s current 3000-point and 5000-point promotions at category 1 Hyatt House properties, you can “manufacture” elite nights for as little as 1,667 points each. This strategy is an efficient way to front-load your progress toward valuable Milestone Rewards and Globalist status early in the year.
