Master the Basics: How to Track Your Minimum Spend Progress with Barclays Cards

Hawaiian Airlines credit cards

In this hobby, one of the main ways banks entice new customers to apply for a credit card is through an attractive sign-up bonus (SUB). Failing to hit the required minimum spend in the allotted time is a major mistake. But how do you know how much more spend you need to put on a card and how much more time do you have to do it? You could keep track of all of your expenses, or you could call customer service and ask them to verify, but fortunately Barclays has an easier option to answer both questions.

To check your progress, log in to the barclaycardus.com website, select which card you want to check (if you have more than 1) and then click either on “Rewards and Benefits” along the top menu or the blue “Rewards and Benefits Center” button further down on the right.

From there, you will see how many miles have been earned since the last statement. If that value includes the sign-up bonus amount, then you have already hit the minimum spend required as in my example below. If not, click on the down arrow next to the sign-up bonus amount “Earn 70,000 HawaiianMiles” in this example and it will pull up the details.

Now you will be able to see your progress towards minimum spend, and if not yet completed, how many more days you have left to finish the spend, which is a nice feature considering the variation in different banks “3-month clock”.

That’s it! In total, it takes just 2-3 minutes to check your progress and avoid a major mistake of not hitting the minimum spend required for the sign-up bonus before the 90 day deadline.

TL;DR: Tracking progress towards minimum spend is important when working towards a new card sign-up bonus. Barclays makes it easy to track via their website, giving both the progress towards the spend required and how much time is remaining.
